A powerful assessment tool

Just Checking provides home activity monitoring services designed to help care professionals understand the needs of adults with learning disabilities.

Using discreet movement and door sensors that send information to an online app, Just Checking shows a summary of daily activity within single and multi-person occupancies, which can be used to assess whether care packages are appropriate or could be adjusted.

The objective evidence from the system can be used to ask the right questions and support decisions that promote independence through care tailored to each individual’s needs.

We use Just Checking to get objective evidence enabling us to get the best outcomes for each individual. Margaret Bennet, Assistive Technology Lead Occupational Therapist, Peterborough County Council

How does it work?

  • The system creates a clear summary of activity which you can view securely online
  • There are no cameras or microphones, just discreet wireless movement and door sensors with a plug-in hub
  • The sensors are simple to attach around the property with sticky-back velcro strips, while the hub just needs an electrical supply
  • No internet connection is needed within the property as the system operates with a roaming mobile SIM (included)

I would really encourage other local authorities to try and utilise or have a look at this type of technology because it allows service users to get exactly the level of care that they need. Dyane Aspinall, Programme Director, Liverpool City Council
